Updates: CBM has a comment from Renner which appears to indicate concerns about the weight of the role. Via LatinoReview, Jeremy Renner talked with Empire Magazine about his character, Aaron Cross, and the film itself. Says Renner: “For fans of the franchise, ‘The Bourne Legacy’ has that same ticking clock, but it’s a new program and new characters…It’s the same tempo and pace but more expansive and bigger. The differences are pretty vast but you’ll know it’s a Bourne movie.”

THR noted Matt Damon’s displeasure with the script and his subsequent apology to the studio and director. Damon described the screenplay as a “career-ender.” THR examines a possible tiff which led to Damon’s outburst. Renner elaborated more on Bourne at moviefone. Oh, and here is a pic of Renner as Cross. CBM has a look at the teaser poster. The Japanese trailer doesn’t feature much new footage, if any, but it sure does emphasize the fight scenes in the movie. Director Tony Gilroy talks about The Bourne Legacy.

I absolutely love Paul Greengrass’ two Bourne films, nearly to the point of obsession. I can’t imagine a sequel living up to them without Greengrass or Matt Damon’s involvement. But Jeremy Renner vs. Ed Norton might be cool (as long as Norton beefs up a bit), and Rachel Weisz definitely lends some credibility. The Bourne franchise is too cool to just abandon so I don’t blame Universal for attempting a sequel.

I can’t remember if he was killed off in “Ultimatum” or not, but I’d *love* if David Straitharn came back for this one. He played the most deliciously evil CIA guy of all time.

And, yeah, expect me to keep posting comments on this story till the movie comes out, lol. The last two Bourne movies are two of my favorite movies of the past ten years. I really don’t want to see this series to go down the shitter.

I haven’t seen the other Bourne movies, but they had better trailers. That picture-scrolling thing is stupid.
