I remember that Part 2 was a bit more slick and mainstream than Part 1. However, I thought that two of the key elements of the first film - the humor and the action - were cranked way up in LW2. It was more of what made the first movie work but bigger and better, and with Joe Pesci's added presence ("They always fuck you at the drive thru!"). The first one was darker and more interesting, perhaps, but LW2 still had that shocking death before the third act. I got a visceral thrill out of seeing Mel Gibson's unleashed rage.
