Secret Sunshine Blu-ray/DVD (Criterion)
The boutique distributor licensed its first Korean movie from director Lee Chang-dong. Award-winning Secret Shunsine is a thriller about a woman moving with her son to the town where her husband was born. Further disaster ensues. A slightly NSFW trailer for the film can be seen here.
Any particular reason why Criterion is releasing THIS film? So many fantastic Korean films to spotlight. And any insight as to how Criterion selects the titles it chooses for release? LOVE LOVE LOVE the BD of Chungking Express, but not many other contemporary Asian films in their BD catalog (aside from Yi Yi and…?)
I have that CE Criterion Blu-ray too. I still haven’t watched it! As for this Sunshine movie, I’m interested in watching it because it’s done by the OASIS guy (not the lame band, the korean film director). Have you seen Oasis?
