Is anyone else losing track of all these new Monkey King movies?

    • Z Ravas says:

You’re definitely not alone. The only reason I attempt to keep track of this particular series is because I love director Cheang Pou-soi. That said, there’s a big difference between the gritty action movies he does – Motorway, SPL 2 – and the Monkey King series, which kind of gets lost in all of the computer-generated imagery.

  3. This is not a comment on The Monkey King films but one one your article where you put Bruce Lee’s style of fighting against the fighting done in Game of Thrones. I am doing it here since for some reason I can’t comment on the article itself.

I am at a loss why anyone would make such a comparison? Especially since it doesn’t make sense. There have been many Asian films based on historic events where battles and tactics have been displayed. These battles are much more similar to Western battles.

I think you make the mistake of not making a distinction between a battle in war and one on one fight. In war anything is allowed. Sure there are rules of conduct but I can assure you that when it comes to life and death those rules are forgotten very easily. Bruce Lee and whoever in the middle of war would do whatever it takes to win.

DVD only from Well Go USA? I can’t recall the last time this happened with them…was it ‘Butterfly and Sword’ (AKA ‘Butterfly Swords’)? The ‘Monkey King’ series must not be much of a monkeymaker for them.
