"Straw Dogs" American Theatrical Poster

The update is directed by The Last Castle’s Rod Lurie, and stars X-men’s James Marsden, Superman Returns’ Kate Bosworth, True Blood’s Alexander Skarsgård, Be Cool’s James Woods Mission Impossible: II’s Dominic Purcell, Cowboys & Aliens’ Walton Goggins Avatar’s Laz Alonso, and Drew Powell. Straw Dogs ’011 is expected to be in theaters this September 16.

I’m a HUGE fan of the original. I’m usually against remakes (but I’m always curious in seeing them), but at least they have a decent director making this one.
I saw this over the weekend. I enjoyed it, but the original is more powerful (you can’t compete with Dustin Hoffman). It pretty much follows the same exact outline so there’s no real surprises. It’s certainly not as bad as what critics are saying; but if you’re a fan of the original, most likely you’ll find the remake pointless. I’m always intrigued by remakes… so I get entertainment out of them no matter what.
