PERKELE'S REVIEW: A classic for it's own right, "The Outlaw Brothers" is a wonderful modern day action film. Concentrated entirely on kung fu [not on some wacky shoot-outs] it showcases us once again the talents of Yukari Oshima and Frankie Chan. Frankie, an actor [who first time (!) fought on-screen in 1982's masterpiece "The Prodigal Son"], score composer [many early Jackie Chan movies, plus "Drunken Master II"] and a car stunt performer & arranger [i.e. Jackie's "Thunderbolt"] proves to be a good director as well. The fight sequences are fast and awesome. That shouldn't come as a major shock, due the fact that they had even Jackie Chan himself on the set helping with the choreography. While Frankie fights well [all you who have seen "The Prodigal Son" should know], it's Yukari Oshima who completely steals the show. Especially in the final reel when she goes toe to toe with American martial artist Jeff Falcon. It was typical to that era to use western fighters as the main fighting villains. Oh, did I forget to mention that "The Outlaw Brothers" is an action-comedy? Well of course it is, it's a 1990 HK production. Comedic highlight for me: those ABSOLUTELY AWFUL sunglasses of Frankie Chan and those clothes Max Mok is wearingÉ horrible!

And the whole movie is about two car thieves (Frankie Chan and Max Mok) who get pursued by tough cop Yukari Oshima. When thieves accidentally get on the trail of some drug smugglers, they team up with Oshima to beat the shit out of the bad people. Highly recommended.
