Violent Cop
"Loreena Bobbit would love this flick." - Mighty Peking Man
Violent Cop (2000) Director: Steve Cheng Producer: Liu Siu Kay Cast: Michael Wong Man-Tak, Anthony Wong Chau-Sang, Lai Yiu Cheung, Astrid Chan, Iris Chai, Moses Chan Running Time: 90 min. Plot: Various brothel frequenters are constantly being murdered by a deranged lunatic and it's up to Inspector Cuba (Michael Wong), a hard-boiled cop, and Ben (Anthony Wong), a local pimp, to end his trail of blood. Reviews MIGHTY PEKING MAN'S REVIEW: "Violent Cop" is a low-budget, seven-wannabe, action-thriller. It's a drag this movie sucked as much as it did because it features two of my favorite HK actors: Michael Wong (although the guy still needs to do something with his monotone voice) and Anthony Wong, who plays a pimp. The worst thing is the fact that I paid $15 and not 15¢ for this VCD. And you know what else is sad? It's actually a lot clearer than your average VCD. Maybe these Chinese people make it a point to do a good job on the "crappy movie" VCD-transfers so they got, at least, something going for them? Whatever the case, this movie blows more than Asia Carrera did in that film I watched last night. I don't know why they chose this title "Violent Cop" - there's nothing violent about any cop in this film. It's cheaply made and has that "rushed" feel to it. The only saving grace are a few dialogue exchanges between Michael Wong and Anthony Wong. Just like in "Beast Cops", they have a great chemistry together. Loreena Bobbit would love this flick.
