THE MOVIE: It’s a match made in heaven: Sylvester Stallone teams up with The Warriors and 48 Hours director Walter Hill for a buddy-cop action flick starring Sung Kang of the Fast and Furious franchise. Also starring Christian Slater, Jason Momoa, and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje. In theaters February 1, 2013.

Updates: What’s Playing notes that the film is meant to be an homage to 80s buddy-cop films like Hill’s own 48 Hours. ComicBookMovie has the first image from the film. Axe fight! AICN has a look at a Sly with a dragon tattoo.

Twitch has the story saying Warner Brothers has pulled Bullet to the Head from its April 13th release date – and has not issued a replacement date. Twitch has breaking news that Sylvester Stallone is overseeing a final edit of the film. AICN has the word directly from Sly Stallone: “I have nothing to do with the editing to ‘Bullet to the Head.’  Walter is doing a FANTASTIC job!  I think it is a FANTASTIC job and he’s editing it!

Meanwhile, over at MovieHole, Walter Hill speaks: “…as to the content and style of the film, Sly and I are in perfect sync. I’m delighted with the way the film is turning out and hopefully so will the audience.”

Deadline reports the film now has a release date of February 1, 2013. That’s a delay of almost a year. A Stallone action movie we thought we would see months before Expendables 2 now won’t hit theaters until next year.

Here’s the first official trailer. A perfect companion piece to Schwarzenegger’s The Last Stand trailer, which was also released today. Trailer #2 is online now for your viewing pleasure. The Playlist has new images of Stallone, Momoa & Slater.

Check out the new official poster. Funny thing is, the “fan” poster I designed months ago looks almost exactly like it, with the exception of a few minor differences. Collider has a pack of new images. Take a look at the new poster. Check out an awesome new clip, featuring a bathroom brawl between Stallone and Momoa.

BREAKING NEWS: Enjoy a 2nd clip, once again featuring Stallone and Momoa.

You know, I was a little bummed that the studio was playing the race card and making Tom Jane bow out for a more “diverse” cast, but…I’m down for a Stallone/Sung Kang team-up, especially one directed by Walter Hill.

And Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje is a bad-ass, I’m sure he could play this kind of bad guy role in his sleep.

These are the types of films I’m amped up to see the most… We need more action movies coming out next year, I could care less about fucking Batman 3 or whatever… Give me some Cannon/80′s style action any fucking day….

  4. NegativeCreep says:

I’ve never heard of a John WOo film called Bullet to the head. Im looking forward to all the action movies coming out soon including Batman 3.

  5. bandolero999 says:

John Woo’s Bullet in the Head is a masterpiece and probably the cheapest film to make.Great story about friendship, betrayal.I dont have much faith in this one.Hollywood doesnt do it for me

Christian Slater is in this movie as well

  6. I just like the fact that Sly has managed to bring 80′s-type action films back to life. =D A true icon.

    • HKFanatic says:

He seems like a genuinely good guy, from the lengthy Q&A sessions he did with AICN back before Rocky Balboa came out. The man has literally been at the top of Hollywood and at the bottom, and he brings that wealth of experience to his more recent films. He may make testosterone-fueled action movies but I think he tries to inject as much heart into them as he can.

  7. NegativeCreep says:

The film will most likely go straight to DVD.

    • HKFanatic says:

That would be really disappointing, to say the least. It’s hard to imagine Walter Hill directing Stallone in a movie that didn’t feel big, epic, and widescreen. But maybe they just had no budget on this thing? Regardless, it’s got Stallone, Sun Kang, Jason Momoa. These aren’t ‘no name’ guys. I hope it hits theaters.

  8. NegativeCreep says:

Who the hell is Sun Kang? Nobody knows who that guy is so there is no pull for him. Plus, the trailer is not even out yet. There would of been more pull for Jason Momoa or Liam Hemsworth or whoever they originally wanted. There was bad decisions made regarding the film, and now the movie company is not supporting it or they are doing major re-cuts to try and salvage the film for a highly unlikely pushed back theatrical release date.

    • Tien Kwon says:

Who the hell is Sun Kang? HAHA I wanna answer this question. Umm have you seen The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift? He plays a guy name Han who apparently knows a lot about cars. He was in Jet Li and Jason Statham’s War, playing a FBI agent. Have you seen Ninja Assassin with Rain and Sho Kosugi? We see him in the beginning of that movie. His character was very minor and I thought he didn’t even play anyone with a name, but if you check the credits it says he plays Hollywood lol. He was the guy who was getting a tattoo from the old bald dude from The Matrix Reloaded. Sung Kang is just your average Asian American Actor lol who is Korean. He doesn’t have any martial arts background, so don’t look at him and think that he might know Kung Fu or something lol.

  9. NegativeCreep says:

If they are going to team Sly up with someone, it should be someone of high resume like Donnie Yen… Hell should of maybe even gave Tony Jaa a shot because he’s an action man like Sly. New actors have to start somewhere, and there needs to be some new action stars that can do something besides stand in front of a blue screen. The actors in action movies today act as if they can’t get their shirt dirty, and to train for a movie is nonsense just let the computer CGI my muscles. If Jaa could show some skills on the big screen, audiences would love it especially with Sly kicking ass by his side. Sung Kane, don’t know who he is much, but I’m hoping the movie turns out well for everyone whenever that will be since the movie is in movie studio jail right now.

    • HKFanatic says:

Tony Jaa or Donnie Yen would definitely be a dream match but I don’t think either one of them is looking to make an English language movie anymore. This film was originally set to feature Sly Stallone alongside Thomas Jane (2004 “The Punisher”) but the studio wanted to push a multi-cultural angle and have Stallone team up with someone who wasn’t another tough white guy. So they got Sun Kang, who at least co-starred in one of 2011′s most successful films (“Fast Five”).

So I wouldn’t write off Sun Kang, or director Walter Hill, just yet. I get the feeling that this movie is such a throwback to the era of buddy-cop movies, a genre that isn’t even around anymore, that the studio doesn’t know how to market it right now. Either that or it’s a huge stinker. But, hey, “Expendables” didn’t have a great script either. It’s all about the action.

  10. NegativeCreep says:

They should of kept Thomas Jane, I think that would of had more pull. I think Donnie Yen is an idiot if he’s not going to do english language films anymore, that’s closed minded. Most action movies don’t have great scripts or actors, but at least they are more entertaining than most of the oscar winning blockbusters.

  11. pingu305 says:

I’ll be the judge when a trailer comes out.

  12. NegativeCreep says:

No it means Sly is going to save the film like Superman.

  13. NegativeCreep says:

Update…Sly is not overseeing the movie’s final cut. Walter Hill is and it’s 100% Walter Hill’s movie. It was all rumors regarding Stallone’s involvement with the cutting process.

    • HKFanatic says:

The news source that broke the story about Stallone doing his own edit is basically saying ‘don’t believe anything unless you hear it from Walter Hill.’

  14. NegativeCreep says:

Well Stallone released a statement on his website about it and he said

“not recutting Bullet to the Head. Bullet to the Head is absolutely Walter Hill’s movie and Walter Hill is cutting it.”

  15. NegativeCreep says:

    From Movie hole…Walter Hill Speaks…

“I’m currently finishing up and locking reels on the movie — as to the content and style of the film, Sly and I are in perfect sync. I’m delighted with the way the film is turning out and hopefully so will the audience.”

  16. Aidy says:

Sylvester Stallone? The guy is unstoppable!

  17. ActionJackson says:

That means in January Schwarzenegger returns in “The Last Stand”, followed by Sly’s “Bullet to the head” followed by Bruce Willis “A good day to die hard” Then we get “The Tomb” with Sly and Arnold. 2013 is becoming the year for the action man hero.

  18. Ningen31 says:

I was hoping Sung Kang would be a bad-ass like in the Justin Lin movies, not a whiny Robin-esque bitch-er, sidekick. :( Axe fight looks good, though.

  19. OpiumKungFuCracker says:

    I just ejaculated!!!!

  20. ActionKungFuJackson says:

Stallone and Schwarzenegger’s days are nearing an end. It’s a shame they are so old now trying to release movies that recapture the days of youthful glory. The Tomb has been delayed until next September so I am not even going to think about it for along time. I hope this movie is at least decent and not some embarrasment that falls flat. I am interested to see how well these guys starring roles will do in such old age.

  21. American Ninja Man says:

I’m looking forward to this too. I think with Stallone he has sort of the Bronson magic going, it’s weird how the guy is in his late 60s. Still what I like about this, is that it’s being directed by Walter Hill who did some good work in movies like Warriors, 48 HRS, Streets Of Fire, Extreme Prejudice, Red Heat, Johnny Handsome and Undisputed. For me I see Hill bringing an old school style that you don’t see anymore.

I should also point out that this movie will most likely flop. Mainly because it’s R rated, Stallone is not the name he once was (Expendables have more of a crossover appeal) and audiences suck dick with what they like in terms of action. Plus you see the whole anti-gun and anti-violence tirade that people are on but this will be a hit on video and little else.
