The latest on ‘Dredd’ – new ‘graffiti’-style billboard advertisement

"Dredd" Theatrical Poster

THE MOVIE: Doom’s Karl Urban will play the character formerly depicted by Sylvester Stallone in the 90′s. Vantage Point’s Pete Travis is directing, and United 93′s Olivia Thirlby, The Cave’s Lena Headey, and District 9′s Jason Cope co-star. In theaters on September 21, 2012.

Updates: AICN linked even more pics from the film. Via Rotten Tomatoes, the L.A. Times notes that Travis was given the boot. The filmmakers have denied anyone being let go from the project. Comicbookmovie.com has some pics and an interview with Thirlby. CBM linked an audition video. New Dredd pic. CBM posted excerpts of a interview with the creator. CBM posted an interview in which Thirlby discusses her character. Total Film has a look at Urban’s helmet head. CBM has a look at some (slightly gory) stills. New post production footage pops up on AICN.

Check out the slick new one sheet poster, courtesy of AICN. The full-length trailer for Dredd is here! Screenwriter Alex Garland claims that Dredd only has to gross about $50 million to be considered financially successful. That will allow the studio to greenlight a sequel – and Garland already has story ideas for a possible trilogy. The Playlist has a pack of new photos. Also, be sure and check out this new Red-Band clip, featuring some impressive (and very bloody) visuals. Worth checking out.

The final poster is now online and lookin’ pretty sharp.

Might wanna note it’s based off the UK comic. The “fans” would appreciate it. :)

    • HKFanatic says:

Supposedly this was written and put into production awhile before “The Raid” came out but it does look eerily similar at times, especially with the whole intercom thing.

  3. Ningen31 says:

So apparently, the fanboy hype isn’t just hype, and critics seem to dig it, too. Thus I’ll probably end up checking it out, myself.
