Deadline reports that FOX and DirectTV has picked up the streaming rights to the Lethal Weapon actor’s border-themed thriller about Mel’s character finding himself in a Mexican prison after surviving an accident, while on the run from the Border Patrol. He learns to make it in the slammer with the help of a 10-year old kid. You can check out the film via DirectTV for $10.99 this May 1. There will be a theatrical premiere in Austin, however. Mel co-wrote the script for ‘Gringo with Man on Fire’s Adrian Grunberg, who also directed.
Update: Dark Horizons via Reuters linked the trailer.
Update 2: Looks like the film’s already got an international trailer.

I support Mel Gibson 100%
I support Mel Gibson about 75% but he hasn’t made a good movie in awhile and I don’t want “Get the Gringo” to have to compete for the public’s short attention span with the other gringo movie, Scott Adkins’ “El Gringo.” Now that is a flick I’m looking forward to.
I worship Mel Gibson.
I wish he could of made that Viking movie but that bitch he hooked up with messed his game up.
I was hoping he would STAR in, and DIRECT the 4th Mad Max movie!
sorry to burst your bubble there but they want BISEXUAL Tom Hardy as Mad Max.
and has anyone here seen the movie Warrior which looks like a dramatic MMA version of No Retreat No Surrender and Best of the Best.
I call him Mad Mel.He has some followers that try to be like him but cant top him. They are Russel Crowe and Christian Bale.I’m glad Bale got owned by the Chinese for trying to interfere.
His Viking movie is still in talks. He wanted TOUGH GUY Leonardo Dicaprio to be the lead.but after the scandal with his wife,TOUGH GUY Leonardo Dicaprio decided to drop out because he doesnt appreciate his comments and will also give him a bad image. He also wants to make a movie about a famous Jewish person as well. But the jews are also not very fond of him.
