Ready for a sequel to Sam Raimi’s ‘Oz The Great and Powerful’?

THE MOVIE: Evil Dead and Spider-Man director Sam Raimi is cooking up a big-budget prequel to Wizard of Oz for Disney. In the movie, Glinda (Michelle Williams) works with a young Oz, played by James Franco, to take down the ambitious bad witch with Evanora (Rachel Weisz). Mila Kunis plays Theadora, a conflicted witch torn between Franco and Weisz. In theaters March 8th, 2013.

Updates: Dark Horizons notes that Spider-Man composer Danny Elfman is re-uniting with Raimi to score the film. | CBM noted that Campbell’s scenes have been cut from the movie. | CBM posted some blurbs from Williams on working on the movie. | Now it looks like Campbell’s scene is back. | Dark Horizons seems to have a pic of a flying monkey. | Scope out the rather gorgeous teaser poster for the film, courtesy of AICN. | AICN has some lovely new images from the film.

BREAKING NEWS: AICN relays news from Variety that Oz The Great and Powerful writer Mitchell Kapner has been at work on a first draft of the sequel for months now. It seems Disney is confident they have a hit on their hands.
