Via Dark Horizons and Coming Soon, Keifer Sutherland confirmed a movie spin-off to the recently-concluded popular espionage show, 24, is in the works, with shooting supposedly to begin in January. In the mean-time, Sutherland will keep busy with the sci-fi thriller, Melancholia.
Update: Via Rotten Tomatoes, The Onion AV Club notes Sutherland’s determination to get it in theaters by 2012, in spite of suggestions that it’s not currently happening.
Update 2: 8 Mile producer Brian Grazer seems to further confirm a 24 movie.
Update 3: Dark Horizons and Cinemablend confirm that there’s no completed script for the 24 movie just yet.

Update 5: Moviefone notes that the script is almost finished.
Update 6: CBM via Deadline confirms the movie will begin shooting in the spring and that The Wolverine’s Mark Bomback worked on the script.
Update 7: CBM via TVLine notes that the character Chloe O’Brien will return, along with a new cast.
Update 8: CBM linked a Kiefer interview in which he discusses the change in time format.
