THE MOVIE: The first of George Lucas’ Star Wars prequel trilogy, Episode I – The Phantom Menace (also known as the one with Jar Jar Binks), gets a 3D theatrical re-release on February 10, 2012.
THE TRAILER: Courtesy of The Movie Box.
Updates: Lucas is hiring the 3D postconverter which worked on Clash of the Titans for Phantom. Dark Horizons notes that if the first one bombs, then that’s it for more Star Wars in 3D. This poster is apparently Jar Jar-less, for your pleasure. CBM has some new posters. Moviefone looks back at the rumors surrounding the prequels, during their initial run. AICN also has an early look at the film.
BREAKING NEWS: Some A New Hope news for ya. CBM via Slash Film has a statement from George still claiming that Greedo shot first in the famous Cantina scene. Lucas apparently didn’t like the idea of Han being perceived as a “cold-blooded killer.”

I wish George would add more scenes with Jar Jar just to piss of the hater fanboy trend.
No really I’m pumped to see these. I never got to see Star Wars in the theater so now I have the chance and this 3d is not your standard 3d. This is 3d that goes inwards not outwards so I will be great for the atmospheres of the movies.
I like how it’s the most underreported story right now.
Good the theaters will be less crowded with fools.
The trailer says it’s playing in 2-D at certain theaters to. If I see it, I may just do it that way.
Yeah Im going to smoke a blunt of skunk weed and go see it.
Hopefully these re-releases will give Lucas enough money to make more Star Wars films.
I’m not going to see it until I read ningen31′s 10,000 word essay on the media refusal to report on this most important story!
Of course it’s kid friendly! Episode 1 was made for the kids.
They’re all made for kids, but TPM is the one which is the most blatant toy commercial of the bunch.
I think Episode I is the ‘best’ film of the prequels but I just watched it on blu-ray a few weeks ago so I really don’t feel like forking out money for it at the theater.
Episode 1 stars a kid, so the kids can relate to that film more than the others. Just look at the characters like JAR JAR, and the other silly things in it that caters to the younger crowd as compared to Episode 3 which was PG13.
It doesn’t star a kid. It doesn’t star anybody. Watch it again, closely. There’s no main character.
Luke never sliced up Boba Fett he cut his gun up and then Boba Fett fell into the Sarlac pit and got devoured.
Alright, it’s been a while, but I could swear he at least cut his arm off.
you don’t have to be a star wars fanboy just to remember 1 scene in 1 movie.
They all start to look alike after a while.
Well so for the film has raked in $40,370,000, not too bad for the more unpopular Star Wars film.
@Drew Z ….The main character of the whole Star Wars saga is Anakin Skywalker so the whole story is based around him. So the little kid is the most important character in the whole movie, and he’s certainly no background character. I
The Phantom Menace stars…Liam Neeson, Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Jake Lloyd, Ian McDiarmid . Those are the main stars of the film, with Jake Lloyd being the main character.
