"Parker" Theatrical Poster
THE MOVIE: Jason Statham stars in Parker, Taylor Hackford’s adaptation of a series of novels about a thief who adamantly avoids stealing from the needy. Black Swan’s John J. McLaughlin worked on the script. Also starring Jennifer Lopez, Nick Nolte, Michael Chiklis and Clifton Collins Jr. Parker has a set release date for January 25, 2013.
Updates: Dark Horizons notes that it’s the same character Mel Gibson played in Payback, and that FilmDistrict is close to picking up the U.S. rights to Parker. Out of Sight’s Jennifer Lopez appears to play the love interest in Parker. The Shield’s Michael Chiklis will play the bad guy. Warrior’s Nick Nolte has been added to the cast. This could prove interesting if Statham gets the lead. However, I am A Statham fan, and I did find something to like in that block buster feature ” In The Name Of The King “!
I still think the best interpretation of this character is probably John Boorman’s “Point Blank” starring Lee Marvin, but I will be interested to see how Jason Statham takes to the role.
