THE MOVIE: Noam Murro, the director of 2008′s Smart People, will helm the sequel to Zack Snyder’s 2006 swords ‘n sandals blockbuster 300, based on the graphic novel by Frank Miller. Titled 300: Rise of an Empire (formerly titled 300: Battle of Artemisia), the cast includes Sullivan Stapleton as King Xerxes and former Bond Girl Eva Green as Artemesia. In theaters TBA 2013.
Updates: IMDB says lists the screenplay as co-written by original director Zack Synder. The film will purportedly focus on the Persian king Xerxes who fought against Gerard Butler in the first film. | Dark Horizons hints that Gerard Butler and Lena Headey might make appearances as their prior characters in this film. | Comic Book Movie has a link with a look at the premise for the follow-up. Just to confuse you further, the producer said it’s not a prequel or sequel.

The movie was formerly titled 300: Battle of Artemisia, but now it’s called 300: Rise of an Empire.
