  1. I think they need someone with more raw grit, and less flash. I’d like to see John McTiernan go at it again. Either way, I’m sure it’ll end up another cgi-filled, ball-less Die Hard flick… might as well get Maggie Q to be John McClane’s sidekick and get it over with. She can be the first Asian woman to appear in two Die Hard movies playing two different roles.

Can’t wait to see cars flipping in the air while McClane kinda sits there as he magically dodges it.

I never thought I would say this, but they should at least consider Antoine Fuqua. He has matured since his “Replacement Killers” days and I think he would do a good job.

I love how you’ve got a list of extremely talented (Nicolas Tefn) to at least interesting directors, and then they go and throw in the director of “Max Payne” in there. LOL. Typical Hollywood.

Tefn is too good for a “Die Hard” sequel. I like Justin Lin since he’s been moving in a more practical effects vs. CG lately, but he’s still a bit too flashy for the franchise. We need less flash, more substance after Part 4.

I agree, John MicTiernan is the only guy who’s managed to make more than one good “Die Hard” flick. He’s fresh out of prison and no doubt in need of a paycheck. It’d be great to see him reteam with Bruce Willis on anything. I also think Anton Fuqua is underrated and has frequently been given the shaft by the studios (he was treated terribly on “King Arthur”). I’m sure he’d be able to draw a fun performance from Willis.

I think my problem with doing “Die Hard” movies now is that the John McClane character hasn’t gotten any more interesting with age. Even when they made him a drunken fuck-up who hadn’t talked to Holly in years in “Vengeance,” it didn’t ring true. The first movie had the perfect ending. I’d rather just see a cool new Bruce Willis action movie with a good director behind it, but I suppose Fox isn’t going to subscribe a $100 million budget without the “Die Hard” name (or a PG-13 rating, no doubt).

Oh yeah, Maggie Q is a babe…she should be in every movie. 😀

    • I just realized DRIVE was Nicolas Refn. (I was thinking “Drive Angry”)…. lol but yeah, no Max Payne directors. I haven’t seen MP, yet i stand behind what I just said 100%. Another guy they should consider is Martin Campbell (Casino Royale)…

      • HKFanatic says:

Ohhh yeah. Martin Campbell needs a comeback even more than John McTiernan. I think I’d rather have a stint in a cushy federal prison than be known as the director of “Green Lantern” 😛

Campbell is one of the best directors of practical action scenes…I don’t think we necessarily need to see John McClane doing parkour, but something like the opening chase scene of “Casino Royale” with Bruce Willis would be amazing.

  3. I don’t know much about John Moore, but I’m happy it’s not that Underworld guy. Hopefully John Moore will bring back the grit.

  4. ningen31 says:

You know, I used to ridicule that movie, but in light of recent stories about hacking and network shut-downs, the story’s not as implausible or dumb as I previously believed. So howsabout uploading the review? ^_-

  5. NegativeCreep says:

Bruce WIllis wants an R rating for the new Die Hard. Hope he gets his wish because the last movie was a bit watered down. First 2 are my favorite.

  6. I liked part 3, although it did fall apart towards the 3rd half. Overall, the first three are solid. Part 1 is better than life itself.

  7. Ningen31 says:

So why is it getting dumped in February? Isn’t it supposed to at least get a March slot?

  8. ActionKungFuJackson says:

Arnold and Sly have movies coming out In Jan and Feb that’s why.

  9. American Ninja Man says:

I don’t have high hopes for this one. I think that it’s trying to hard to be Taken (in terms of what it looks like and what it is shot as) This will probably be a hit though. I think that it should be better than Die Hard 4 but I mean that says little. I gotta be honest, I think that the first three are great and that will be that. I think the problem is that Willis is now forced to have a son character, just like in 4 where it was his daughter. I think it’ll be a movie you buy just so you can claim you have all the Die Hards but chances are it won’t be watched as much as the other 3.

  10. HKFanatic says:

If I edit together the teaser and trailers and all these action-packed clips, I feel like I’ve seen the whole movie. 😛

  11. HKFanatic says:

The reviews for this movie have been absolutely abysmal. That may be why they did the movie premiere in London (seriously – not having a Die Hard premiere in the good ol US of A?)

  12. Horrible says:

This movie was so bad it made me angry. I was screaming profanity all the way home after seeing it. I hope John Moore ends up panhandling on the streets or hanged from the ‘Y’ in Hollywood. The franchise is now dead because of him.

    • HKFanatic says:

I’m going to rewatch the original tonight on Blu-ray. You guys have me scared to see the new one this weekend.

    • What a load of sh*t! They got the music right. The action was good (for the most part). But the setting, dialogue and the fact that the movie didn’t have a SOUL!!!! Wow. POS, all the way. I should have known better to give it a chance since McClane was teaming up with his son…. what was I thinking?

  13. American Ninja Man says:

This was a big let down. I was sort of hoping for a Death Wish style improvement ( Death Wish 5 was better than 4) but it was instead more like a Batman And Robin follow up to Batman Forever. I mean it’s not that bad but it’s really pushing it. Like, I give it a 4/10 and that’s flat mediocre and it’s really pushing it, if not for my fondness for 1-3, I’d probably give it a 2. I think that’s how I would sum it up.
