THE MOVIE: Directed, written and starring Jackie Chan, CZ12 (aka Chinese Zodiac, Shi Er Sheng Xiao, The 12 Chinese Zodiac Animals) is the third part of the Armor of God series, which explores the further adventures of Asian Hawk (Jackie Chan). This time, the plot revolves around the 12 bronze animal heads from the Chinese zodiac. Official release date: December 12, 2012.
CZ12 also stars Oliver Platt, Caitlin Dechelle, Steven Dasz, Kenny G, Andrew Dasz, Kwon Sang-woo and Alaa Safi.
Updates: A major fight scene of the action movie cost 70 million yuan, or more than 10 million U.S. dollars, Chan revealed. ”I think I won’t fight so fiercely as this in the future,” said the 56-year-old. Teaser trailer has been released. It states ‘Jackie Chan is BACK!’ Website Chinese Films reports that Chinese Zodiac is now known as CZ12. The film will release in Chinese theaters on December 20, just two days after Wong Kar-Wai’s The Grandmasters. Surprisingly, CZ12 will be the first Chinese film to screen in IMAX format this year.
Jackie Chan hit the red carpet of Cannes 2012 with his CZ12 cast to help promote the film. Oddly enough, the BBC has an article about Jackie’s statements at Cannes. Says Jackie: “This will be my last big action movie…The world is too violent now. I love fighting but I hate violence.” The article states that this is indeed the third film in the Armour of God series, with Jackie reprising the role of Asian Hawk. American director Brett Ratner (Rush Hour series) is producing. Check out the first official trailer via YouTube!
An HD version of the trailer is now available. Jackie Chan will be making an appearance at the San Diego Comic Con this Thursday in order to promote Chinese Zodiac! This is the first time a Chinese film has ever been presented at the Con. Here’s a brand new 5-minute behind-the-scenes clip (in Chinese). Not much new info on the film but here’s a great shot of Jackie posing with his pals Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger at Comic Con!

BREAKING NEWS: Director of distribution Ramy Choi revealed to news outlets that CZ12 is slated for a European and American theatrical release on “a few hundred screens,” starting in either the spring or summer of 2013.
