The latest on Van Damme’s ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ – two new clips

"Welcome to the Jungle" Sales Art

THE MOVIE: Directed by Rob Meltzer, Welcome to the Jungle is a Lord of the Flies-style comedy/thriller starring Jean Claude Van Damme with The O.C.’s Adam Brody, The Flight of the Conchords’s Kristen Schaal, The Descendants’ Rob Huebel, Assassination Games’ Kristopher Van Varenberg and Six Bullets’ Bianca Bree.

Welcome to the Jungle is about the employees at a design firm who end up stranded on a remote island after a corporate retreat gone wrong. It doesn’t take long for a hierarchy to form and pit the survivors at each other’s throats. Jean Claude Van Damme as a corporate raider? Could be interesting.

Updates: Filming begins next month in Puerto Rico so we can only assume that Van Damme’s duties on the set of The Expendables 2 have all but wrapped. On-the-set photo of Van Damme sporting a pornstache and a leaner body. Looks like Kristopher Van Varenberg buffed up for his role. Welcome to the Jungle is currently in post-production.

Vandammefan.net linked a Jimmy Kimmel interview with Kristen Schaal, comedian and Van Damme’s co-star in Welcome to the Jungle. In the interview, she talks a great deal about ‘Claude,’ as well as the movie itself. Here is the interview: Part 1 | Part 2

Twitch Film has the sales art for the movie. It’s funny how Adam Brody gets top billing but Van Damme dominates the poster!

  1. Awesome news! Good year for JCVD.

  2. NegativeCreep says:

Sounds interesting. Will this be in the theater?

  3. ActionJackson says:

Once again Van Damme’s kids are in this. From DTV action man, to hollywood comedy clown? Nah, I just hope it’s good and not a waste of a film.

    • HKFanatic says:

I guess the one thing you can say for sure about Van Damme’s kids is that they’re never gonna go hungry. :P

  4. ActionJackson says:

That’s true bro. Did you hear the Howard Stern Interview?

    • HKFanatic says:

Mighty Peking Man sent me a few clips from his interview. I’ve got nothing but love for Van Damme but I don’t really feel like he should be stepping into the ring with anybody. He’s trying to set up a real fight with some 32 year-old Thai kickboxer? That sounds like disaster to me. Van Damme should focus on making the best movies he can and not worry about grudge matches.

  5. ActionJackson says:

Since Van Damme could not get his Bloodsport sequel he now wants a real life Bloodsport type match 20 years after the original Bloodsport. I feel if it’s in his heart, he has the true spirit of the warrior. If he wants to fight to prove himself, then go ahead. I think it will be lots of fun, and he can always make more movies. The fight will make him tougher than before, and maybe influence him to make even more martial art movies.

    • As a child growing up during his Hollywood peak, I have nothing but love for Van Damme. There was a few years when I dismissed him as a has-been, but I think it was the film JCVD that showed me a different side to the guy. Since then, he has my full support and I re-established myself as a die-hard fan, just as I was in the 90s. I’m rooting for a full-blown comeback and it looks like it’s already happening. As long as he never makes another movie like DERAILED again, I’m happy. =D
