THE MOVIE: Chinese Films reports that Johnnie To and Wai Ka-Fai are teaming up again for a new a gangster film titled Drug War (Du Zhan), which will be shot in Mainland China. The last time Johnnie To shot a movie in the mainland was over 30 years ago during the production of his first film, 1980′s The Life-taking Golds.
Even during the last 10 years when Hong Kong filmmakers switched to shooting in mainland, Johnnie To has continued to stick with his typical Hong Kong filming locations. Drug War, budged at 100 million yuan, will be directed by Johnnie To and written by Wai Ka-Fai. The script is still in the polishing stages.
