Sniper: Special Ops | DVD (Lionsgate)

RELEASE DATE: May 3, 2016

Lionsgate presents the DVD for Fred Olen Ray’s Sniper: Special Ops, starring the one, the only, Steven Seagal (Above the Law).

This time, Seagal teams up with pro-wrestler/actor Rob Van Dam (Black Mask II: City of Masks). Also appearing are Tim Abell and Dale Dye. Despite its title, the film is not related to the existing Sniper franchise.

In Sniper: Special Ops, a Special Ops military Force, led by expert sniper Sergeant Jake Chandler (Seagal), are sent to a remote Afghan village to extract an American congressman being held by the Taliban. The rescue mission is a success, but Jake, separated after a firefight with the enemy, stays behind to help an injured soldier. | Watch the trailer.

If that said “Van Damme”, I’d watch it in a heartbeat.

    • lol I’m pretty sure that crossed their mind (from a marketing perspective) when they did that DVD cover.

Even by the poor standards of modern dvd covers that is one terrible looking photoshopped monstrosity. Plus, it looks like it stars a Dutch actor called Seagal Van Dam who looks vaguely like Steven Seagal with a goatee drawn on with a black marker pen.

        • lol That’s cool they’re going out of their way to make Seagal appear less overweight, but they should at least get it right (i.e. the head looks way too big for that body!)

          • hank says:

I first noticed the photoshopped way back in 2006 when they did the same “giant Seagal head, obviously too small and in shape for Seagal body” thing for Attack Force. I love vintage Seagal (Above the Law-Under Siege 2), but he’s all but given up even trying to make quality movies. I think Ruslan/Driven to Kill that even pretended it wasn’t DTV garbage, and even that was mediocre.

He also looks like he’s about 60 seconds away from being run over by a tank.

I’m assuming this isn’t connected to the Tom Berenger ‘Sniper’ series.
